State of Michigan Launches HelpingHand Website

Last weekGovernor Granholm and the State of Michigan launched a website to better serveresidents applying for unemployment benefits, food assistance and other help.

According to the Detroit News:

“The so-called"helping hand" portal, at michigan.gov/helpinghand, will enable people to look intojob training, unemployment benefits, health care and other services by clickingicons.

The site for thefirst time will allow residents to apply online for food stamps. The site alsoallows users to determine if they are eligible for Medicaid health carecoverage and other assistance. Cash assistance applications still areface-to-face. “

The increase of applications caused byeconomic factors has led to the creation of more online resources for residentsin need. The site provides information on five categories, including: Jobs& Training, Unemployment Benefits, Health Care, Family Support, and HousingHelp.

Please share the word about this new resourceand let others know about the services now available online.
