Thanks to everyone involved in making Van Buren County United Way's first “Raisin' the Green” golf ball drop a success. Many area residents and businesses were involved in planning and carrying out the golf ball drop. As a result, Van Buren County United Way raised more than $1,975 toward this year's campaign goal of $475,000.
Thanks go especially to Golf Services, which donated hundreds of golf balls, and to the Village of Paw Paw, which provided the boom truck and operator. Paw Paw Public Schools allowed us use of the Middle School lawn for the event. We also received help from the Paw Paw Police Department and the City of Hartford. Family Fare and the UPS Store in Paw Paw provided space for ticket sales. Tireless volunteers Bob Gregory and Sonia Berg helped sell tickets, along with Van Buren County United Way board members. Thank you to the following girl Scouts who gathered the dropped golf balls following the event:Deb Heighton -Girl Scout Leader and Katie Heighton and Emily Leuer Girl Scouts.
Local donors helped us prepare five prize packages that were awarded, along with the $500 grand prize. Donors included:
